| Description |
The Qualifying New
Technology Workshop was held in October 2002
and focused on 1) Discuss requirements and processes to qualify new
technologies, 2) Develop a methodology and process that could lead to a
mutually acceptable plan to MMS and Oil Industry stakeholders. |
| Progress |
Workshop was successful
in developing a consensus on a recommended plan and course of action.
Conclusion:
An API Recommended
Practice is needed by the regulatory agencies of new technology proposed for
use in deepwater projects. Certain aspects of this workshop had been
incorporated in later research projects related to the structural and
mooring domains.
