Description This is a Joint Industry Project (JIP). The project will be performed in two parts, the results from Part 1 will be evaluated before moving on to Part 2. Part 1 will review experimental fluke anchor test data, select good quality data for back fitting analysis, and to use numerical model to improve understanding of the mechanisms that govern the performance and holding capacity of fluke anchors. The result will be an executable computer program, DIGIN, used for the back-fitting analysis to be delivered to each participant in Part 1.
Progress The DIGIN Manual and program was completed and distributed to the participants. If the forthcoming back-fitting analysis of drag-in plate anchors reveal that some minor adjustments to the program are required it will be carried out as part of the final effort. The project is approximately 90% complete. DNV will evaluate the possibility of arranging a workshop with anchor installation contractors on the issue of anchor installation. The objective is to get the views from the installation contractors on options available to install fluke (and drag-in plate) anchors to a specified installation load. The installation contractors will be encouraged to summarize their views in a document, which will be considered for inclusion as an addendum to the next revision of the RP's. Some changes to the nomenclature to the guideline were proposed, and also to re-structure part of the document with new headings.
