Portable Data Recorder for USGS
inspectors |
| Performing Activity |

| Principal Investigator |
Mr. Edward Burke |
| Contracting Agency |
U.S. Geological Survey |
| Estimated Completion |
Complete |
| Description |
The development of a `breadboard`
portable data recording system which could be used by Government inspectors to obtain both
digital and verbal data during periodic inspections of offshore installations. |
| Progress |
Complete. After design and
fabrication of hardware for evaluation of the system, it was decided to study the human
capabilities for using such a complex recording system. Human engineering specialists from
the Army Research Institute concluded that it was too complex but recommended changes in
existing Outer Continental Shelf data acquisitions and storage methods. |
