Sperm Whale Seismic Study (SWSS)

Summer Breeze Daily Reports - July 7, 2005

Position on 07/07/2005, 18:15 UTC; 30 20.425N; 087 17.176W, just off Pensacola

After filling up water and fuel tanks, we cast off the lines at 12:30 and are now heading out towards the Mississippi delta. Currently, our main goal is to get out of the way of Dennis by sailing towards the western side of the delta. We will monitor the hurricane forecasts closely to determine the best course of action once we are there. The sea has been calming down since last night, so we decided to sail via the Gulf rather than the Intercoastal Waterway, on which it would take considerably more time to reach the western side of the Delta.
