OCS Performance
Measures Program
Best
Management Practices
Workshops
The MMS and the Offshore Operators Committee
periodically sponsor public workshops to share best practices for conducting OCS oil and
gas operations. Companies that have earned pacesetter status are asked to make a
presentation at the workshop.
Pacesetters are companies that demonstrate good
long-term safety or environmental performance, and exemplary performance during the
previous calendar year. The MMS identifies pacesetters by analyzing company-specific OCS Performance Indices
and other available performance data.
At the workshop, a pacesetter is recognized for
performance related to either the Personnel Safety or Pollution Prevention. Typically, the
Personnel Safety category includes:
 |
one
smaller producing company (< 30 MMBOE) |
 |
one larger producing company (>
30 MMBOE) |
 |
one contract producing company |
 |
two
drilling companies |
The Pollution Prevention category includes:
 |
one smaller producer |
 |
one
larger producer |
MMS invites each Performance Pacesetter to speak
about some of the operating processes or techniques they think helped them achieve
exemplary performance.
The MMS thanks the workshop presenters and their
pacesetter companies for taking time to share some of their formulas for success. Please
check back for future workshop information.
