- Alaska has significant untapped natural gas resources that can go a long way toward serving the nation’s need for natural gas in the coming decade.
- The challenge that faces us is getting these resources out of the Arctic while ensuring that it is done safely and with maximum protection for the environment.
- MMS already has expertise and a strong knowledge base about the technological and environmental complexity of pipeline use in Arctic environments. We have spent more than $5 million over the last 20 years on Arctic technology studies, particularly directed at ice forces.
- We also have comprehensive experience working through a consultative and collaborative process with stakeholders at all levels. We stand ready and willing to offer that technical expertise and experience towards developing solutions to these problems.
