Policy and Management Improvement Associate Director

George Triebsch Biography

George Triebsch has served as the Associate Director for Policy and Management Improvement since 2002. In this capacity he provides the Director with advice and guidance on programmatic and management issues. His office provides a review and assessment capability within BOEMRE to ensure the coordination and implementation of sound policy and management decisions. His responsibilities include conducting special studies, coordinating and resolving complex program issues, strategic and performance planning, overseeing the BOEMRE regulatory and information collection processes, providing policy analysis, coordinating external program reviews and evaluations and ensuring a robust internal control review process.

Mr. Triebsch has over thirty years experience managing multi-million dollar projects, programs and facilities in both the public and private sectors. Prior to joining BOEMRE, he was the Department of the Interior’s Program Manager for Performance Management and the principle architect of the Department’s first Government Performance and Results Act strategic and performance plans and process. Mr. Triebsch started with the Department of the Interior at the United States Bureau of Mines where he managed programs to improve the health and safety of workers through research on human factors and safety systems. Prior to joining the Federal government, he managed production, engineering, and environmental quality for a major coal producer.

He holds a Masters of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and is an Excellence in Government Fellow.
