The Bureau has released a new report, “Leasing Oil and Natural Gas Resources—Outer Continental Shelf” The report provides information about the Federal offshore oil and gas leasing program and more. It details the history of offshore petroleum exploration and development in America, describes the procedures for Federal offshore leasing, and explains the legal authorities on which the program is based.
