Renewable Energy Research
BOEMRE Ongoing Studies
Information Synthesis
and Gap Analysis:
Studies to obtain a better understanding of human and
environmental aspects of ecological communities and physical
oceanographic processes that drive shelf and deep-sea ecosystems
and potentially sensitive areas.
Geospatial Data
Management:
Studies
creating comprehensive searchable database’s of geo-referenced
ecological information resources to support ecosystem-based
management.
Social, Economic, and Cultural Resources:
Studies to
identify human use and space-use conflicts in coastal and
offshore waters, as well as on the OCS, between renewable energy
development, current users of ocean waters, and potential new
uses of the OCS, and to identify ways to mitigate those
conflicts.
Biological Effects:
Studies to address multiple populations of birds, fish, turtles,
marine mammals and other endangered species, by literature
synthesis, data collection and analysis to better understand
their interactions with offshore facilities and activities.
