Government Performance and Results Act
The
Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) of 1993 requires
Federal Government Agencies to consider how to measure their performance
and use those measurements to make improvements to their programs. The
act also requires Agencies to set goals, measure performance, and report
on their accomplishments. We accomplish this through BOEM’s
Strategic Plan.
The Plan identifies six goals to help the
Agency achieve its mission. The goal directly applicable to
environmental performance is “Minimize Impact on the Environment.” BOEM
evaluates effectiveness of existing mitigation measures, implements an
environmental performance data verification and clarification process,
and publishes environmental policies and procedures to prevent or
minimize adverse impacts to the
marine, coastal, and human environments.
