Cooperation

International Agreements

The BEA advises senior managers and other agencies on the possible implications for BOEM of several international agreements that include provisions addressing environmental issues. For example, we provide technical expertise concerning the effects on offshore oil and gas activities of the international convention to control air pollution from ships and offshore platforms. Our staff participates on national and international teams dealing with agreements for the disposal at sea of oil and gas platforms. We also provide advice on environmental issues associated with agreements between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada regarding the assessment of impacts that cross international maritime borders.
