Citation: Bill Strain

The Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service presents its 1998 Corporate Leadership Award to Bill Strain for his leadership capabilities.  This award recognizes his commitment and contributions which enhanced MMS's ability to meet its mission objectives.

Beginning in 1998, BP Amoco, Chevron and Texaco entered into partnership with the Minerals Management Service to participate with the Royalty Management Program in its Reengineering Initiative to develop and implement new business processes and support systems for the 21st Century. Critical to the success of the Initiative is the industry partners’ full involvement in the Operational Models phase of the Initiative to refine future business processes, the development of future information collection requirements, and the definition of information technology solutions. Each of the partners has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the Initiative, dedicating critical resources to work shoulder-to-shoulder with RMP staff to achieve common objectives. This partnership will continue though 2001 as the RMP completes the development and implementation of its future business processes and support systems.

These efforts reflect the unselfish and professional effort by Mr. Strain in promoting safety and corporate responsibility consistent with the intent and spirit of the Corporate Leadership Award.
