Citation: William Schmidt

The Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service presents its 1998 Corporate Leadership Award to William Schmidt for his leadership capabilities.  This award recognizes his commitment and contributions which enhanced MMS's ability to meet its mission objectives.

The Ohmsett facility is an integral part of the MMS Oil Spill Research program.  Ohmsett is uniquely designed to test and evaluate oil spill response containment, clean up and monitoring equipment.  Ohmsett is also used as a Research and Development facility to assess and develop new response technologies.

The MMS recognizes Mr. Schmidt for his achievements in improving the safety, efficiency and environmental sensitivity of operations at the Ohmsett facility.

These efforts reflect the unselfish and professional effort by Mr. Schmidt in promoting safety and corporate responsibility consistent with the intent and spirit of the Corporate Leadership Award.
